TutorBird alternatives for solo tutors
Another Session is a TutorBird alternative for solo tutors who want student records, recurring lessons, notes, packages and payment tracking together, with every feature free for up to three client records.
A comparison from Another Session
We make Another Session, one of the products discussed here. This is a comparison of our product with TutorBird’s published information, not an independent ranking or a claim that we have tested every setting in TutorBird.
TutorBird already serves private tutors as well as tutoring businesses. It offers lesson notes, packages, invoicing and parent access. Those features are not exclusive to Another Session, and working alone is not, by itself, a reason to leave TutorBird.
This guide considers one alternative in detail. It is for a tutor deciding whether Another Session suits their own teaching week, not a ranked list of every tutoring platform.
Give TutorBird credit for its existing tools
TutorBird’s official pricing and feature page lists student profiles, lesson and progress notes, attendance, recurring administration, automatic invoicing, online payments and calendar connections. It also lists staff permissions, payroll tracking, learning tools and a website builder.
Its invoices and payments page explains selling blocks of tutoring hours and updating remaining time as lessons are completed. A claim that TutorBird cannot track prepaid teaching would be inaccurate.
The Student Portal provides family access and self-service capabilities. The pricing page describes optional self-service scheduling, lesson notes, payment history and file sharing. Whether a family can use a particular function depends on how the tutor configures their service.
If those tools already fit your work, keeping TutorBird is a reasonable decision. Compare the tasks you perform repeatedly, not the length of either feature list.
Compare the cost of your actual roster
On 31 October 2026, TutorBird’s main pricing page displayed $16.95 per month for one tutor, plus $4.95 for each additional tutor or staff member. It advertised a 30-day trial with no credit card required.
There is a discrepancy in TutorBird’s own pages. Its UK page displayed £11.95, €14.95 and $14.95 per month for a single tutor, alongside other regional prices. Those dollar figures do not agree with the main pricing page. Confirm the currency and current signup price directly with TutorBird. We have not verified an annual-billing discount.
Another Session is Free forever for up to three client records in total, with every feature included. Complete is £8 per month for unlimited client records with exactly the same features. Every account starts with 30 days of unlimited clients, no card required. The trial increases client capacity, not features. See current Another Session pricing.
For an explicitly USD illustration using TutorBird’s main-page figure, twelve monthly payments of $16.95 total $203.40. Twelve monthly payments of Another Session Complete at $10 total $120. The subscription difference is $83.40 across those twelve payments. This is our arithmetic, not a quoted annual plan. Different regional prices or separate service charges change the comparison.
Subscription price and collecting lesson payments are separate costs. Check charges from your chosen payment service and any optional services before treating a subscription difference as your total saving.
Try the student record between lessons
In Another Session, keep the student’s contact details, their parent or guardian where relevant, their current focus and session history together. Record recurring lessons, then add a short note about what you covered and what to revisit.
For an imagined maths student, the useful record might say which exam board they follow, which algebra problem they found difficult and what to practise before the next lesson. It should be specific enough to help you prepare without recreating the conversation from messages.
For a prepaid block, check remaining sessions and money received separately. A family can have paid in full while lessons remain unused. Our guide to tracking prepaid lessons explains that distinction.
Try opening the student, finding the last note and recording a completed lesson on the phone you actually use. Do the same in your current tool. That direct comparison is more useful than an unmeasured claim that one product is faster.

Compare what parents can actually see
Another Session provides a private client link for viewing recorded upcoming sessions and payment information. Keep guardian contact details with a child’s record and check the recipient when preparing an invoice or sending an update.
You can prepare an editable monthly summary draft from recorded session information. Review the wording and facts before sending it. A useful update tells a parent what their child worked on and what comes next.
TutorBird also offers family access through its Student Portal. Its optional self-service scheduling differs from Another Session’s client link, which does not let parents choose public lesson slots. If that booking process is important to you, it is a reason to examine TutorBird carefully rather than assume a like-for-like replacement.
For the communication itself, read communicating with parents after private lessons. Changing software does not replace agreeing with a family about when and how you will update them.
Check payments before changing your billing process
Another Session records lesson charges and received payments, tracks packages, and prepares invoices and payment requests. You can include your own payment link or bank details and record the money when it arrives.
TutorBird advertises automatic invoicing and online payments. Do not assume those settings or payment connections carry over when you switch. Test a complete invoice and receipt process in the system you plan to use.
Our guide to monthly invoicing for private tutors explains reviewing lesson records, package coverage and the family recipient. Keep that review in your process even when software prepares the bill.
Move client details, not an entire account
Another Session can import client details from a CSV. Choose the file, map its columns, review the rows and confirm the import. It can accept supported contact, guardian, focus and general client-notes fields. It is not a direct TutorBird integration.
TutorBird’s student-list export update documents downloading a student list as CSV. That older announcement is evidence of a student-list export, not a guarantee that every historical record is included. Confirm the current export options in your account or with TutorBird.
Dated session notes, lesson history, payments, invoices and package balances do not transfer through Another Session’s client import. Keep a copy of the records you need and reconcile each remaining package and outstanding charge before using the new system for billing.
Start with a small set of students and inspect the imported names and guardian details. Do not assume every exported column has a matching field or that two students with similar names are duplicates.
Choose after a complete teaching workflow
Test the same sequence in both systems: open a student’s record, find the last lesson note, check the next appointment, complete a lesson, check the package balance and prepare a parent update or bill. Use fictional details while you are learning the screens.
Another Session is worth considering if its client records and session workflow fit your teaching and you prefer its plan structure. TutorBird deserves consideration if its existing booking, family, teaching-resource or staff tools are important to you.
You can see Another Session’s actual screens on Private tutor software for independent tutors. Try the workflow before making a decision based on price alone.
Source dates and comparison limits
TutorBird product and pricing claims above were checked against the linked official pages on 31 October 2026. Prices and capabilities can change. The conflicting regional prices are disclosed rather than resolved by guessing.
Another Session descriptions were checked against its current client, session, import and payment screens. The product picture uses fictional example data. We have not audited TutorBird’s security, tested its performance or verified every integration, and this guide makes no claim of superiority in those areas.
Frequently asked questions
What is a TutorBird alternative for a solo tutor?
Another Session is one option for client records, recurring lessons, session notes, package balances, recorded payments and parent updates. This guide compares it with TutorBird rather than ranking every alternative. Choose by your own workflow.
Is there a free TutorBird alternative?
Another Session is Free forever for up to three client records in total, with every feature included. Complete allows unlimited clients with the same features. Every account starts with 30 days of unlimited clients, no card required.
Does TutorBird already support lesson notes and packages?
Yes. Its official pages describe lesson and progress notes, and blocks of tutoring hours with remaining time updated as lessons are completed. Those capabilities are not unique to Another Session.
How much does TutorBird cost compared with Another Session?
On 31 October 2026, TutorBird’s main pricing page displayed $16.95 per month for one tutor, while its UK page displayed different regional figures, including $14.95. Confirm your signup price. Another Session Complete is $10 USD, £8 GBP or €9 EUR per month; Free includes every feature for up to three client records.
Can parents book lessons through Another Session?
Parents can view recorded upcoming sessions and payment information through a private client link. They cannot choose public booking slots. TutorBird advertises optional self-service scheduling through its Student Portal.
Can I import my TutorBird account into Another Session?
You can import supported client details from a CSV after mapping columns and reviewing rows. This is not a direct account migration. Session history, dated session notes, invoices, payments and package balances do not transfer through that import.
Should I switch if TutorBird already works for me?
Not simply because another product has a shorter feature list or a lower advertised subscription. Test whether the new workflow improves a job you actually do, and account for migration work and any important features you would give up.
